Advances in Hydro-Meteorological Monitoring
This book presents a reprint of the Special Issue of the journal Water dedicated to “Advances in Hydro-Meteorological Monitoring”. As we planned, as editors, this Special Issue aimed to shed light on the more recent advances in ground observations and remote sensing products, as well as on the benefit that comes from the integration of technological innovation and the development of new ideas in hydrology science. This original objective was achieved, and in the eleven papers collected here the readers can appreciate theoretical and applied contributions dealing with the development and comparison of different monitoring procedures based on ground and satellite data. The papers are arranged with a process-oriented criterion that follows the hydrologic cycle. Starting from soil moisture monitoring from satellites and in-situ, we move to pan evaporimeter measurements. Runoff measurement using advanced methods from both satellites and in the field are then addressed. Three papers are dedicated to rainfall measurement and spatial representation and the two final papers address the problem of systematic errors in snow precipitation measurement and the design of snow measurement networks
