Evidence and Expertise in Nordic Education Policy
Te idea of applying comparative methods of inquiry to understand
reforms that travel, which is presented in this volume, was conceived in
2017 within the context of the Policy Transfer Project (POLTRANS). In
this project Gita Steiner-Khamsi, Teachers College (TC), Columbia
University, was appointed as a part-time adjunct visiting professor at the
Department of Education, University of Oslo. As part of the POLTRANS
project (NRC 271314), which was funded by the Norwegian Research
Council for the period of 2017–2021, we were able to collaboratively
develop research proposals that enabled us to empirically examine why
transnational policy and research resonate in a national context and how
they are subsequently translated and contextualized in the form of national
school reforms. Te project brought together senior and junior researchers from the University of Oslo and TC, Columbia University in
New York
