It is too early to speak of a shared history – this was the conclusion offered by Kenyan
writer Yvonne Adhiambo Owuor on October 9, 2020 at a conference on research into
the history of German colonialism. The various experiences were so different, the
wounds so deep, and the colonizers’ behavior so brutal, she said, that one could not
yet speak of “our” shared past
